Thanks for the depth and texture of your review on the tour. I'll be sure to share it with the members of the Facebook private discussion group, "Wine Aficionados", as this is precisely the sort of wine writing that most of them appreciate.

Was just about to wax lyrical about the latest malbec I was really impressed by... went to check the name and vintage and realised it was an Argentine Tannat...

Was damn good though

Two words for you: Achaval Ferrer. Their basic malbec (at £14.50+ per bottle it's still more expensive than many, get it from Corney & Barrow and elsewhere) is reliably excellent, and their toppermost malbecs (three single-vineyard wines that retail for £50 and more a bottle) are knockouts. There's a lot of fairly average Argentinian malbec around – though even at the lower end I find it's often pretty drinkable if, like you say, a little uninspiring – but it's got real potential, I think.

Hi Jack - in terms of connecting with bloggers out East, I'm happy to ask around via the European Wine Bloggers Forum. I'll send you an email on your other question. Best of luck with it!

Hi Paola - I have been following you on twitter recently. I love your style of story telling and really enjoy your honest and accessible approach. I'm also an amateur, also with the WSET Advanced but working in a very different industry, with a keen passion and desire to write about wine experiences & use and find some creative outlet. I'm moving to Malaysia (yes, not clever from a booze point of view!) next year and I wondered if you knew of wine bloggers in the far east? I'm also interested in how one 'makes a living' from blogging - sorry if that's crude or ignorant, and not that I'm planning on it, I'm just very curious!

Thanks!

Being a big fan of Mencia, I think I'll pop down and grab a few of the Alma de Tinto 2010. Sounds great!
